What to Expect from Sharpen Your Attention
How many sessions are there?
How long is each session?
Will there be homework?
How much participation is expected during the sessions?
Is this program suitable for those who don't have a diagnosis?
How much does it cost to enroll in the program? (and do you take insurance?)
The entire program includes 6 sessions:
- Session 1: Introduction to executive functioning (what are your goals?)
- Session 2: Setting the foundation (the task list)
- Session 3: Feeling overwhelmed? How to break it down!
- Session 4: How sharp is your attention?
- Session 5: Completing the picture: the mood and the mind
- Session 6: Why you procrastinate (and it's not laziness!)
Each session lasts 60 minutes
Although no official "homework" will be assigned, each session will have an area of focus, and the best way to maximize this program will be to practice specific skills outside of sessions. It can be helpful to bring your observations to the next session about what worked, and what didn't!
Similar to homework, there is no expectation of active participation during the weekly group sessions. However, it can be helpful to bring your questions to the group, as discussion can help with problem-solving. Maybe someone else in the group had the same struggles as you did with the weekly theme, and has some helpful suggestions! It can also be helpful to connect with others who may have similar difficulties.
Absolutely!
Individuals with a diagnosis (e.g., Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD) can definitely benefit from the skills focused on in this program, but they are not the only ones! Anyone can benefit from finding ways to improve their attention, organize themselves, and figure out their own areas of strengths, as well as their areas of continued growth.
The cost for the entire program (all 6 sessions) is $195.
No insurance is needed for this program.
